This class is the first of four writing classes in the Writing for the Seasons Series with Vanessa Mártir.
These two hour sessions are scheduled for the first day of each season (spring, summer, fall & winter) starting on March 20th at noon EST, the vernal equinox in the northern hemisphere. They will be held via zoom.
The theme of the first class is BEGINNINGS, since spring is the promise that everything can begin again, letting go and embracing something new.
A few days before the class, I will send participants a list of readings, inspired by spring and the theme of beginnings. These readings will serve to inspire and lead us into writing prompts that will be provided during the class.
The hope is that writers will start something new—a poem, essay, story, play—that they’ve been brooding over or considering. Writers can also opt to continue building on something they’ve already started. Whatever you decide, you are guaranteed to write and be in community.
The suggested donation is $30. You can send more, less or nothing at all. No one will be turned away. Proceeds will help fund scholarships for upcoming tuition-based Writing Our Lives classes scheduled for the Fall Semester, including the Intro to Writing Your Life Class, a new Advanced Personal Essay Class on Revision (where the final project entails submitting an essay), the Writing the Mother Wound Class, and two new classes that tackle the art of beginnings and endings in storytelling.
